Teri Zipf can't remember learning to knit, but assumes it was sometime after she learned to read. However, that was the English or "throw" method. She flirted with Continental knitting off and on but was never comfortable with it for more than a few rows. Seven years ago she discovered Portuguese knitting and has been knitting that way exclusively ever since. She's done color work, cables, and lace, and a variety of projects; socks, mittens, sweaters, scarves, shawls and a lace baptismal dress she designed. She's taught twined basketry, English, speech, writing, and, of course, she's taught anyone who'll sit still long enough, how to knit in the Portuguese style.
